Um drink com algo especial
Tem algo especial no Martíni,
Um ardido agradável assim;
Um amarelo, um singelo Martíni;
Queria um agora pra mim.
Tem algo especial no Martíni,
Tomado bem antes do fim,
E eu tenho um chute,
Não é o vermute—
Creio, talvez seja o gim
A Drink With Something In It
There is something about a Martini,
A tingle remarkably pleasant;
A yellow, a mellow Martini;
I wish I had one at present.
There is something about a Martini,
Ere the dining and dancing begin,
And to tell you the truth,
It is not the vermouth—
I think that perhaps it's the gin.

Não pude hoje ir ao culto
Não pude hoje ir ao culto,
Contei que o Pai entenderia.
O mar dançava azul e branco,
Guris dançavam pela areia.
E sabe Deus, a estada é curta,
E quão mais curto é o verão,
Sabe, logo eu faço as malas
E estreitamos a relação.
I didn't go to church today
I didn't go to church today,
I trust the Lord to understand.
The surf was swirling blue and white,
The children swirling on the sand.
He knows, He knows how brief my stay,
How brief this spell of summer weather,
He knows when I am said and done
We'll have plenty of time together.

O louva-a-deus
Mas de onde vem o louva-a-deus?
Lemúria, Marte, é um dos seus?
Mas credo em cruz, cruel criatura,
No falso santo o mal perdura.
Faminto frade ou monge ou bispo,
Eu junto as mãos quando um avisto.
The praying mantis
From whence arrived the praying mantis?
From outer space, or lost Atlantis?
glimpse the grin, green metal mug
at masks the pseudo-saintly bug,
Orthopterous, also carnivorous,
And faintly whisper, Lord deliver us.

Ouça…
O baque ecoa crânio adentro,
Apelo sem devir;
Alguém batendo na parede,
Chorando, “eu quero ir!”
O prisioneiro solitário
Só ouvirá seu eco.
Ninguém jamais replicará
O seu plangor frenético.
O horror que assombra o coração:
Um monstro que é só seu;
Na luz que filtra pelas fendas,
Seus olhos veem breu.
Na carne unida a carne quente,
Num verbo que o aqueça,
Mais só, então, é que ele fica,
A sós na sua cabeça
Nas vivas veias enredado,
Na cela esqueletal,
Mais ermo fica se não vê
Que o exílio é total
Livrava toda a casta humana
Que sina igual possua,
Se destrancasse minha cabeça
Ou a mim me abrisse a sua.
Listen...
There is a knocking in the skull,
An endless silent shout
Of something beating on a wall,
And crying, “Let me out!”
That solitary prisoner
Will never hear reply.
No comrade in eternity
Can hear the frantic cry.
No heart can share the terror
That haunts his monstrous dark.
The light that filters through the chinks
No other eye can mark.
When flesh is linked with eager flesh,
And words run warm and full,
I think that he is loneliest then,
The captive in the skull.
Caught in a mesh of living veins,
In cell of padded bone,
He loneliest is when he pretends
That he is not alone.
We’d free the incarcerate race of man
That such a doom endures
Could only you unlock my skull,
Or I creep into yours.
